"The dekalog is a new musical form created in
response to a new virus which has changed our
experience of time and timing. Our daily lives are
both compressed and elasticated by the lock-downs allowing
us time to breathe... and wonder how long we might continue to do so.
Under new conditions it seems necessary
for artists to make clear-cut decisions about the value of
their claims upon an audience. Many things are still worth saying.
Some feelings are worth communicating. But we can no longer presume
we have all of Thursday afternoon to do so.

Like a knock-and-run sonic delivery service, the dekalog
presents ten content-rich songs in ten minutes. All styles
and moods are permitted by the form: humorous, manic,
pensive, cryptic, factual, playful – all and any of the anxieties and joys
provoked by the urgency of our situation. The only hard rule is that
the songs are book-ended by song one as a statement of intent
and song ten as a summation. It is hoped that others will
adopt the dekalog form and enrich it beyond my capabilities.,,
